People with common names which are spelled differently
Has to be some on here who have a common first name but don't spell it like most.

Do you like it since it makes you 'unique' or think your parents were wankers for not spelling your name normally?

Have you considered changing it to the normal spelling?

Just wondering, like.

Leesa's mum is a twit.

Girl apples don't roll far from the tree. My son's girlfriend's mother sees more of my son than I do these days :-(

The one 'r' thing has always puzzled me. You wouldn't spell Barry with one r. That said, I also know a bloke who spells it Barrie and you don't get anyone called "Garrie" so I suppose it's not all that strange.

I get people writing double - RR Garry a lot.
you would think the simpler one - R would be the default effort.

"Once worked with a girl called Kaytlynne, who was very much English and a bit chavvy. Her parents were clearly trying too hard."

Came across loads of names like that in a previous job. You'd be surprised at some of the variations of names parents give their children.

Marc the Hairdresser

Makes sense, I mean who would go to a Hairdresser's called Mark?

Re: People with common names which are spelled differently
Isn't Marc that low-grade brandy stuff the French make from what's left after pressing grapes for wine, rather than wine itself?

No offence meant, just asking.

My name is Marc. People always spell it Mark even when they know it's spelt with a C which pisses me off.

Re: People with common names which are spelled differently
Irish names are a whole other matter rather than alternative spellings of common names.

Was at the National Theatre yesterday to see Our Country's Good and there was an Irish actress called Caoilfhionn Dunne. Wouldn't even know where to start with that.

I'm aware of that. It may be quite normal in Ireland, but when presented to the average Englishman it results in confusion.
